Trout on Paper - Custom Trophy Fish Drawings by Daniel Brake

Creating custom trophy fish drawings is our passion. Jaw-dropping reactions are our reward.

At Trout on Paper, we strive for perfection, and to reveal the unique pattern and personality of the fish we are commissioned to reproduce—trophy fish that are typically catch-and-release.

Trout on Paper
Every fish is unique, and so is every drawing. We don't use templates, we don't use projection. We base every drawing solely on the measurements and source photography provided. Where details are lacking, we may refer to encyclopedic references to obtain the proper information.

What medium does Trout on Paper use?

Our preferred medium is pastel on paper. The technical process, the paper ground, and the brilliance of the final result make this our medium of choice.

We are always open to a challenge, and will consider other mediums, such as pencil, charcoal, or even oil paints. We are skilled in these mediums as well.

What is the working process?

The most important requirement is a decent source photo.  We usually work from a digital image that we can print out.  Don't worry if the photo isn't perfect, but it should be clear, and show a dominant side-profile of the fish. Here are a couple of examples:
Do you only do trout?

No. At Trout on Paper we are eager to reproduce any trophy fish! If you love it, and want to preserve it in a beautiful portrait, we will work with you to ensure you get the best results possible.
